SimKraft and FFEM (Finger Finite Elements)

The new SimKraft app:

This app has been developed together with Simulia with the main contributor being Erik Träff (MSc student at DTU). The app can be downloaded from Google Play and from the Apple App store.

The Finger Finite Element (FFEM) App is an interactive finite element tool that solves the 2D linear elasticity problem for plane stress including dynamics/vibrations. The SimKraft App allows the user to draw a structure and to watch how it deforms elastically as you distort it with the touch of one or more fingers. Once released, the structure will vibrate and demonstrate the fundamentals of basic dynamics.

A manual (pdf) describing usage of the App can be downloaded from here

For more on the finite element method we recommend books by Baathe, Zienkiewicz, Cook (refences are comming).

FFEM has been developed by DTU Master students Søren Madsen and Nis Peter Lange as part of a special course at DTU Mechanical Engineering and DTU Compute.
